Dr.Veeramani holds various professional positions viz., Political Leader, Educationalist, Administrator, Entrepreneur and many more. During his fledgling days, he assisted Thanthai Periyar in editing ‘Viduthalai’, a Tamil rationalist daily (1956-60). While he was practicing Law, he served as the Executive Editor for the daily till 1963 and later became its Editor, a post which he serves till date. He is also the Editor for ‘Unmai’-a bi-monthly magazine, The Modern Rationalist- Monthly and Periyar Pinju (Children’s Magazine) - Monthly magazines.
He is the President of Dravidar Kazhagam (a leading social revolutionary movement) and Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and technology (a public charitable trust). He is the Secretary for the Periyar Self-Respect Propaganda Institution, Chennai (Periyar Trust- a Public Charitable Society, registered in the year1952).
He is the Patron of ‘Tamil Nadu Rationalist Forum’ and the Executive Director of ‘International Institute of Periyar’s Philosophy and Ideology.’
He is the Founder & Chairperson of ‘Periyar Maniammai Free Clinics,’ at Chennai, Vallam (Thanjavur), Salem, Trichy and Sholinganallur and is also the Founder Member of ‘Periyar Organization for Women’s Empowerment and Renaissance’ [POWER- A public charitable trust].
He is also the pioneer in the field of education to establish the first ever exclusive engineering college for women (Periyar Maniammai College of Technology) which has been deemed with University status. Apart from these, he has initiated several educational institutions to upgrade the life of many through literacy.
